Teaching high school is a very high energy job and thankfully teacher David Elm is up to the challenge. While he was teacher on campus last year teaching one period of physics and then taking over IT, Elm is now a full time math teacher at Minarets High School. But his journey to Minarets was unique.

When it came to his scholarly life, there have always been challenges, such as his switch of majors. Starting out as a music major, he was always helping his band friends, but eventually he realized that his talents were elsewhere. Elm decided to attend Fresno State because of fresnel lenses: “When I was in class we were talking about fresnel lenses but I thought they were saying Fresno lenses so I asked if the campus had a good physics lab and my teacher said yes." Thankfully, this misunderstanding helped him achieve many accomplishments, including teaching at nearby schools like Madera and school all the way in Africa. His road eventually brought him to Minarets and he plans to keep teaching as his career.
