Inside the Life of a Hype Stunt Team

By: Aubre Matier

For the Minarets stunt team, unity and passion come first. All individuals carry contrasting characteristics yet embrace their compatible senses of drive, consistency, and euphoric objectives.

The Minarets stunt team progresses its school in positive ways. It allows students to be physically active and includes two teams who perform given routines on a playing field, at the same time. Each team attempts varied skill levels of partner stunts, pyramids, tosses, jumps, and tumbling. This sport allows students

at Minarets High School to express a positive spirit through the doings of a sport.

The Minarets stunt team creates the aesthetic of a dedicated and valuable cheer curriculum. The team includes much commitment towards the school's awards, scholarships, and extracurriculars as a whole. It grants Minarets High School more diversity in skill, healthy systems, and bigger as well as better abilities of multitasking.

Due to the Minarets stunt team, girls from all grades adding on friend groups have created pure and refined memories on and off the court. Such as winning the 2023s senior night match by only one point.

“At that moment it did feel like we were a family.”

Expressed Addison Lafferty

All girls were fulfilled with such pleasure, satisfaction, and enjoyment. To progress with the memories status, one that had been beautifully orchestrated was the Pismo match. Savannah Pogue had lost her airpods so she, Jadyn, and Aerin Kahle were forced and obligated to look everywhere in the parking lot. The three girls were granted with no shoes and flashlights.

Although the team's best qualities are the girls and their unity, it also includes their commitment and effort.

“The stunt team's best quality is probably when we want to get a stunt we'll spend hours trying to get it perfect.”

Stated Aerin Kahle

The practices include being consistent as well as constant. The stunt team meets for an hour and a half every weekday which always results in a high attendance rate. On Thursdays, the team meets after school, so 3:45 pm, and extends the practice till 6:30 pm. During the practices, the girls share occurrences with conditioning, tumbling, and the rehearsing of every routine. The conditioning includes running, abs, pushups, etc. The tumbling involves cartwheels, back handsprings, front walkovers, etc. Each routine is critiqued as well as changed to the wanted aesthetic.

The result of the practices is well-played matches. The game the stunt team had connected, and achieved the wanted goal, was the game against Matilda Torres due to it being the first win. It granted positive relief, an extension in drive, and lifted energy. The team did well with their tumbling, extensions, and routine.

Stunting is such a necessity and important adaptation for the members because of learning to achieve “it” and keep “it”. There is a purpose and goal to work towards which gives the girls value.
