The Minarets Annual Showcase is happening next Tuesday! Students from all across campus have selected their classrooms and are ready to present their work from the 2018-2019 school year so far. Each teacher has prepared a special activity for students to show off their talents. Mr. Robert Kelly has been working hard with his students to create an election guide for adults who visit the Showcase this year. Students have created Google Site projects containing both a California proposition guide and an office guide that display the mechanics of political elections.“We are focusing on creating a to-the-point voter’s guide for the upcoming election that can help eligible voters make an educated vote. Through this process, we have been able to connect our findings back to what we are learning in our government class which is gives us students a better understanding of how our state and federal governments function,” says senior Greta Ziegler. If you or someone that you know is interested in learning more about elections or voting, stop by Mr. Robert Kelly’s classroom!
Mrs. Jill Gamble also has a lot in store for this year’s Showcase. All of the art students have created many different pieces to display during the upcoming event, and lots will be participating to show off their art skills at the Showcase. Senior Steven Madrid says, “For our project, we are coloring in puzzle pieces and putting them all together to create one big image.” It sounds like there will be lots of creativity and productivity going on in the art room this year.
For Mrs. Karra Zamora’s Showcase room, many yoga students are excited to show off what they have learned this year so far. Carolina Munce, a senior, is very eager to show her yoga skills. “I’m going to do a sun salutation for yoga and I chose this because I enjoy the class and I want to show my parents the coolness of meditation,” she says. Having yoga presentations at the Showcase is exciting. It is a break from academic rooms and is definitely a way to see the very different ways that Minarets offers ways for students to express themselves.
As a reminder, the Minarets Showcase is taking place next Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We would love to see many different faces on campus coming to experience this event that the whole student body has worked hard to put together. We hope to see you there!
