December 14, 2018 was the release date for the hit animated movie "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and even though it's mid March of 2019 it's still one of the best recently released animated movies to date. IMDb gave this movie a 8.6/10 (from over 149,000 user reviews), Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 97% (it also made it as #2 on Rotten Tomatoes list of "68 Best Superhero Movies of All Time"), and 97% of Google users enjoyed this film. An estimated $90 million went into the budget for this film and it collected a total worldwide grossing of over $326 million as well as ranked #15 on top grossed films of 2018. The movie won Best Animated Feature, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Original Song, and Best Original Score.
Telling the story of Miles Morales, a teenager who lives in Brooklyn, New York, the world he lives in is pretty average. He wins a scholastic contest getting him into Brooklyn Visions Academy, a higher end private school, however, he's reluctant to go due to leaving his friends and his popularity from his previous school behind him. This causes some tension between Miles and his father as not only does he not want to go to this school his father is proud of him for getting into, but the tension causes Miles to sneak out to see his Uncle who doesn't have the best relationship with his father. The movie then escalates when Miles gets bitten by a radioactive spider while he was out in an abandoned subway terminal with his Uncle graffitiing the free wall space. Soon after he gets caught up into the villain King Pin's secret lab in that very same terminal and gets saved by Peter Parker (aka Spider-Man), as he tries to stop King Pin's plan for creating a particle collider to open up a wormhole to another universe. However, in an attempt to stop King Pin, Peter Parker (as Spider-Man) is killed and leaves Miles with the power to shut off the particle collider through a flash drive handed to him before his demise. Through the first activation of the particle collider it opened up multiple other dimensions where different versions of Spider-Man's come through and enter Miles's world as he goes through trying to learn how to hone his Spider powers, who he is, the importance of family and doing what is right. In the end he learns how to be a hero and helps to save the day by sending his new found Spider friends back to their respective home worlds as well as shutting off the particle collider for good and thwarting King Pin's devilish plan.
