The Ag Department has been working hard since the November Fall Banquet to put together the Adopt a Family Community Day Activity. The activity has been headed up by the FFA Community Service Committee, and many students came to help this year!
From the time the activity started, students worked non stop to wrap almost 300 presents for families in need. Senior Reiley Stenberg was last year's committee chair for this project and gave some insight of why she decided to participate again this year. Stenberg said “ My favorite part about this activity is that we get to give to people who may not have as many opportunities, I would really like to see the looks on people's faces however it is a secret.”
The Adopt a Family project benefits four families from our school district, which are anonymously chosen by administration based on need. Sophomore Jordan Basila, Co-Chair of the Community Service Committee, explained some of the challenges of the event, “The hardest part about getting this Adopt a Family going is making sure we keep it all organized, if one item gets mixed up, it ruins the whole process. Overall we’ve been doing pretty good.”
Junior Emma Bloodworth was a big help for the project staying after school this past week helping organize the gifts and participating during the event. She said “Giving back to the community is really important and spreading kindness throughout brings the community together.”
Many hours went into pulling off this project from many different people. Senior Katelyn Hough, chair of the project said, “I am really glad we could finish this project and I am so glad we could do this for our community members.”
The Ag Teachers will be delivering the gifts to the families before the end of school today Dec. 19.
