As we are making our way into the end of the school year, it's time for the Minarets Drama department to hold their next theatrical production. This semester, the drama department has chosen to take on Singin’ in the Rain Jr.
With much of last year being virtual, the drama department decided to branch from their typical pattern of one musical and one regular play a year and tackle two musical productions. The large success of their production of Frozen Jr. in December helped create opportunities for the club to produce this stage adaptation of the 1952 film.
40 students auditioned for the production in both singing and speaking roles. The play consists mostly of dance numbers that take place throughout the show. With 11 character roles, and 29 ensemble roles, Singin' in the Rain Jr. is a large production. Auditions were held Mar. 1, 2022 and Mar. 2, 2022 with callbacks being held on Mar. 3, 2022. The cast list for the play came out on Mar. 4, 2022.
Students auditioned for the lead roles of Kathy, Lina, Cosmo, and Don, along with the numerous ensemble roles. The performances will be on May 4, 5, and 6 and will take place in the Minarets gym.
Congratulations to all those cast in Singin in the Rain Jr.!
