Royalty walks the halls of Minarets High School after junior Kaitlynn McDonald was named Miss Teen Black Fresno 2020. Seven girls competed on Feb. 22, 2020; three in high school division for Miss Teen Black Fresno and four in college division for Miss Black Fresno 2020.
Kaitlynn explained that she entered the pageant for a new experience as well as a scholarship opportunity. Throughout the whole experience, she had to attend lectures and participate in volunteer work and community events. During the events, Kaitlynn sang in front of over 340 people, and answer an interview question that interested her. She chose the question: “What is your opinion about teachers having guns on school campuses and in classrooms?” She said “I don't believe that teachers should have guns in class or on campus. I believe that train professionals should be the ones to do that. Teachers are at school to teach not to shoot”.
After all of her hard work, Kaitlynn won the title of Miss Teen Black Fresno 2020 as well as a $2,000 scholarship for college. Since earning this title, she has now committed to participating in community service events as well as attending events as Miss Teen Black Fresno while proudly wearing her crown and sash.
We are incredibly proud of Kaitlynn and her accomplishments. Congratulations!
