Senior Spotlight: Emma Bloodworth

As Minarets is approaching the end of the 2020-2021 school year, seniors are looking back down memory lane. Senior Emma Bloothworth had a remarkable high school experience, but, she states, “I honestly think, now this is gonna sound silly, my biggest accomplishment so far is getting to go to college. I feel like that’s what I’ve worked up to for so long and now that it’s finally happening it feels so surreal.” With this school year being solely online until now, she admits that it was tough, but she believes that it gave something more memorable, something that would stick with them for the rest of their lives.

Her four years were filled with FFA, where she has been a sectional officer, chapter officer, national delegate, and state committee sub chair. Bloodworth has also competed in numerous LDEs (Leadership Development Events) and CDEs (Career Development Events). Through all this work, she has learned multiple skills, including leadership and speaking.

For her, the last year has demonstrated what it means to be a Mustang. She explained, “[Principal] Ching always says 'a spirit that cannot be broken.' I feel like no matter what is thrown our way especially after now that we have gone through a pandemic, that statement really stands and that’s what I view being a Mustang as.” Bloodworth explained that high school was not like the movies; she definitely had her fair share of ups and downs.

She explained some advice that she has for the lower classmen: “I would definitely tell them, or anyone really, is to do what scares you. Do what pushes the boundaries of your normal life whether that be to apply yourself to a different club or if you’re already in a club to run for a leadership role within it or even go to that one dance that you aren’t quite sure about. I know sometimes that things look scary in the beginning but can really turn out to be huge growth opportunities for yourself.”

The Minarets community can't wait to see what her future holds!
