With 2021 starting up in full gear and graduation looming even closer, Minarets seniors are taking the time to look back on the past four years. Senior Jenna Annis has had an eventful high school experience, but she explains, “My biggest accomplishment is becoming a senior because I’ve made it this far.” With the 2020-2021 school year being solely comprised of online learning, she admits she has had a tough time, though teacher Jennifer Garner has been a big help to her this year and throughout high school.
Annis, a part of the Minarets volleyball program, developed a passion for the sport at a young age. She began playing in seventh grade and has continued playing through all of high school. “I grew a love for it and it became my passion,” Annis explained. Volleyball has impacted her life in several ways, but, most importantly, she said, “It has taught me control and how to be stable.” She also explained how she loves the adrenaline rush she gets in games, only furthering her love and passion for the sport.
When asked about the advice she would give to the underclassmen, Annis expressed that, “...there’s a whole life of possibilities other than going to college when you could be out making money, doing what you want in your own way.” Annis says she herself lives by a quote of her own creation. “Prioritize important things in your life, not something that won’t do anything in the future for you.”
The people at Minarets are what have left the most impact on Annis, and throughout the good and the bad, she has learned from it all.
