With the third quarter coming to a close, senior Madison Wuensch has been reflecting on her time at Minarets since her transfer from Yosemite High School her junior year. “My experience at Minarets has been really positive for me, both inside and outside of school,” says Wuensch. “I have been able to grow and mature a lot since transferring last year. I am going to miss the teachers and my underclassmen friends. I feel like I have developed a lot of great friendships/relationships with the staff and students, and it's unfortunate that we have missed out on creating lasting memories in our final year of high school.”

Wuensch considers her experience one for the books as she was heavily involved in the school’s community. “Inside of school, I have been involved in varsity cheer for the past four years of high school and am one of the captains this year. I am also in Key Club, where I currently hold the President position. FFA, where I have shown sheep and rabbits. Outside of school, I coached our youth cheer team.” Her experiences in the community have left a lasting impact on her. “I will forever be impacted by the support from staff when trying new things. It has truly been rewarding to step out of my comfort zone by participating in clubs and other opportunities that have taken my education to the next level.”

Considering this school year has been different than most, Wuensch also spoke out about how COVID-19 has affected her last year of high school. “COVID has made my senior year less than ideal,” she admits. “Things such as prom, formal, senior night, etc. have all been ‘robbed’ from me in a lot of ways. However, the year has taught me how to develop a better work ethic while learning independently. I also have realized the importance of valuing the people around you because you never know when life will throw an obstacle at you.”

While she is uncertain of what the future holds for her, Wuensch says, “After graduation, I am still unsure if I am going to go straight to a four-year college or if I am going to start out at a community college and later transfer to a four year, in order to make it cheaper for myself. I am still super unsure of what I am wanting to pursue a career in, but I hope whatever it is, I will be extremely passionate about.”

The Minarets community can’t wait to see what the future holds for Wuensch!
