Soccer Girl Dribbles Her Way Through Art

by Cody Milne

Senior Autumn Pearson has been playing soccer for 12 years now. She has loved soccer for all of her life. Although she is occupied with soccer, she balances AP art along with it.

“I still have free time when I play soccer, so every once in a while I’ll continue to work on a painting or drawing. It also helps that I’m in AP art, so I have a lot of time at school to work on my paintings.” she stated.

“I wouldn't pursue art as a career, but I do plan to keep on painting, it’s fun and relaxing.”

In school she loves all her classes but her favorite is AP art with Art teacher Jill Gamble. Pearson always loves talking to Gamble and her friends in art class while she is painting. She has taken art all throughout high school and has been forever entranced by it.

When she was younger, she loved soccer so much that she ran around and asked other teams if they needed an extra player.

When she isn't playing soccer, Pearson loves to paint, go on runs, and spend time with nature. Another way she spends her free time is that she volunteers at a Christian camp called Calvin Crest.

Since her arrival at Minarets, Pearson has found different activities she enjoys. She participates in art club, English teacher Michael Vaughan’s backpacking club, and the Glisaiders Club.

“I’m enjoying helping the students and helping out Vaughan when he needs it,” states Pearson.

She has planned to go to Minarets from the beginning middle school because her mom works at the school. She describes Minarets as a good environment for people who are a bit more introverted than most, and that everyone is welcoming.

Pearson shows exceptional talent in both these fields. It is just a matter of time before it becomes something big for her and her career path.
