Unseen, But Still Loved: The "Silent" Strength of the Minarets Cheer Team

Writer: Minarets Press StaffMinarets Press Staff

Do you remember the basketball game where they made history? Do you remember the cheer team being there? They go to most games, cheering for our team with their coordinated dances that are contagious, you can't help but smile and awe at how well they perform. Yet somehow people forget that they are still cheering; the team with enthusiasm like no other. They practice every other day to show their teamwork and to encourage our sports team. They kept doing this not because they were told to, but because they were the only ones who could cheer our teams back from the shadows.

Our cheer team truly shows themselves through their dances. They force people to look at them with their pure skill and how they perform. Shouting for our teams to keep going, showing the world, ‘I am right here!’. These young women are strong enough to lift our school's spirits, just like how they lift each other into the air as if they were weightless. Through each other, they lift themselves higher making sure no one falls.

They push themselves higher than the rest, as the girls learn to love and care for each other. Gennie Muńoz says, “Everyone has a very close connection and stunting and tumbling is fun with them” They put all their trust into each other, and knowing them, they won't ever fail.

The cheer team’s unwavering dedication and synchronized performances not only fuel the energy of the game but also serve as a reminder of the power of teamwork and trust. Their commitment to supporting the team and lifting the spirits of the crowd, no matter the challenge, showcases their true strength. They push each other higher, both physically and emotionally, creating a bond that goes beyond the routines and into the heart of their shared experiences. Through their unity, they inspire not only their teammates but the entire school, making them an integral part of every victory. Their story is one of resilience, passion, and the incredible impact of supporting each other.
