Update on Reopening of California

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

As we all know, we have been quarantined for a long time. But the big question is, when is everything going to be reopened up and getting back to “normal”? Well the answer is, that everything will not just reopen all at once. It will happen in phases that the governor and city officials have put in place:

  • Phase One being how everything was when we were quarantined with the stay at home order and only essential business were allowed to operate.

  • Phase Two, which is the phase we are in now, states that lower-risk businesses can begin to reopen and take precautions such as doing curbside pickup.

  • Phase Three being that higher risk business can reopen. Governor Gavin Newsom gave a speech about the phases and when phase three will occur and he stated "Phase 3 is not a year away. It's not 6 months away. It's not even three months away. It may not even be more than a month away."

  • When Phase Four happens, it will end the whole stay at home order and reopen everything. Unfortunately, Phase Four may not happen so quickly and the stay at home order will continue to affect things into the fall. In fact, the CSU system has already announced its 23 universities will stay online through the fall semester.

With this all in place, no one really knows for sure when we will go back to normal, but we all have to continue to do our part by staying home, social distancing, wearing masks, etc.
