On October 3rd, 2017 the Minarets Dig Grey volleyball game was put on by seniors Miranda Shockley and Julie Castleman. The girls’ SLE (Senior Legacy Experience) was a wonderful event, bringing enthusiastic students and parents from the Minarets, Fresno Christian, and Yosemite High Schools. The Frosh team played against Yosemite, and JV and Varsity played against Fresno Christian.

The games lasted a few hours and showed how hard our volleyball players work and play the sport. All the girls from every team played well and had great sportsmanship. In the end, Minarets came out victorious, but the real win was bringing

awareness to Brain Cancer and gaining support for those who have been diagnosed, including Miranda Shockley’s dad. The girls explained how there is not enough attention and research for brain cancer and expressed how important it is to shine a light on this subject and for people to donate to research.

With October being breast cancer awareness month, it is important to keep in mind that there are many types of cancer that need attention for research. The game was held in the Minarets gym, where attendees could purchase food and beverages, take part in a raffle, and enjoy a passionate game for a good cause.
