“Here we go Mustangs here go! Here we go Mustangs here we go!” echoed through O'Neal’s, California as Minarets Volleyball faced off against San Joaquin Memorial Panthers last night in the Division 3 Quarter Finals. In this quarter final match, many the stands were a packed house with Mustang students as well as local community members.
The Mustangs glided through the first game but the Panthers bounced backed evening the score at 1 a piece at the start of game 3.
In a hard fought battle in games 3 and 4, coaches from both teams were strategically calling timeouts to insure their teams were on the same page and ready for a competitive match.
But through these close matches and timeouts the Mustang Student Section never lost their enthusiasm was full of spirit and pride as they cheered for their team remaining the 7th man for Minarets High School. Junior Zackary Redman explained that it was important to be enthusiastic because "volleyball players always come and cheer on the football team at our games so we started to show them the same support.
Through the sweat and tears of the extremely evenly matched battle, the Mustangs earned a victory and ended the season for the Memorial Panthers.
We look forward to seeing what our Mustangs can do further down the playoff road as they continue their trek to the Valley Championship. Their next game will be at Mission Oaks High School in Tulare, California.
Congratulations, ladies! and good luck Thursday!
