Minarets U is an elective class at Minarets High School that gives students the opportunity to take college classes, both online and in person, and have class time at the high school to complete coursework. Students can register for classes through different local colleges and can choose from an array of classes to study. The process of registration can be difficult and most students complete the process on their own or with the help of a parent or faculty member.
Most commonly students will attend a class in person at one of the nearby colleges offering classes to high school students, but some will select one online and complete their work during the class period given. Junior Jasmine Olsen remarks on the quality of her online class as “having easy access. Its an easy class, I really enjoy it”. Depending on the class chosen, students receive a certain amount of college credits for completing and passing the class.
If you or someone you know would like to enroll in a college course while attending Minarets, please contact Claudia Vandenbergh at cvandenbergh@mychawanakee.org with any questions.
