Welcome back Mustangs! Only 6 more months until we’re done with the year! The past few years have been a bit challenging for our IT program, especially with the Programming classes. California is currently in an IT teacher crisis as a job in IT pays a lot more than teaching, therefore less and less IT people become teachers
We currently don’t have a permanent teacher for our IT classes, but thankfully we have something in the meantime... a long-term substitute teacher!
Mr. David Elm, who you may know as our new Physics teacher, has become our IT teacher for the time being. He has a degree in Physics and has been teaching for over 15 years but has done a lot of coding whilst in college to figure out Physics ideas, along with some coding in grad schools for part of an assignment. Since then for a while he only coded to generate diagrams in a program called Damiagra.
Sounds pretty stressful, going from physics to programming but Mr. Elm is very excited for the new challenge and to start coding some games, as he knows the students are as well.
With Ms. Jenny Sultana being the first adviser of the Game Development Club it falls on Mr. Elm to whether or not the club will finally be ready to make some programs. As a member of the club I must say, I hope Mr. Elm will help grow the club and make it into something great.
