Absences and tardies happen, even to the best of us. But missing too much class time can have a negative effect on your performance in school.

To address this growing concern, Minarets High School started a new graduation requirement that students must have 95% attendance in Fall of 2016. But since absences and tardies do happen, Monday Night School was created to help students get their attendance rate back up.

Now what is Monday Night School? It occurs almost every Monday during the school year and is ran by certificated teacher, commonly Miss Perri Potigian, Mrs. Kayla West, and Miss Karen Urrutia. The class runs from 2:40pm to 6:40pm and gives students the opportunity to get caught up on work.

Many people assume that Monday Night School is a bad thing, but its there to help students make up their attendance and to complete their missing work. Minarets doesn’t want students to fall behind and fail, which is why Monday Night School exists.

How do you know if you got Monday Night School? You will be notified in a variety of ways, including phone calls home, emails, letters, and notices sent to your Pro Period class. You and your parents can also check your attendance online through Powerschool.

So Mustangs, let's be sure to keep our attendance high, but if something happens don't worry. Monday Night School is there to keep you on track.
