New Coach for Cross Country

Updated: May 21, 2020

In a flash, cross country will be here! Coach Lisa Kaczmarek is very thrilled for this year and what her runners will bring on and off of the track. She has coached for 4 years at the Ranchos Middle school in the Golden Valley Unified School District.

According to Coach Kaczmarek, she is looking forward to working with the kids and making them better runners. She enjoys helping her runners and seeing they are able to accomplish a lot more than they imagined. They have a great group of hard workers. She is excited to see them succeed! To work hard, build a team atmosphere, and have fun!

The runners are very set on their goals this year to go to League, they just need to finish the 5k race in under 19 minutes or less.

Q: Christian, what are you looking forward to this year? A: Senior Christian Stover- Probably, the meets and the tournaments because then we’re running more as a team because it’s not just 1st place wins. Being apart of a team is what I look forward too.

Q:What does teamwork mean to you in cross country, Aaron? A: Senior Aaron Hall- Most people would think teamwork would have nothing to do with Cross Country because you are individually running but, what it means to us is it gives someone to push you in practice.

Q:What are you looking forward to for this season of cross country? A: Sophomore Ben Spain-This season for cross country I’m looking forward to going under 19 minute 5k because last year I almost made it under 20 minutes.

The Minarets Cross Country team competed in their first meet on August 29 and senior Aaron Hall placed 3rd on Varsity while sophomore Noah McLaughlin placed 2nd, freshman Hunter Cornett 3rd, sophomore Ben Spain 6th, freshman Sebastian Vellandi 8th, and freshman Ethan Weathers 19th in the Frosh/Soph Race.

Can’t wait to see what the team will accomplish next!
