The stands on both sides of the football field filled up with people and excitement. People were cheering for both YHS and Minarets football teams. With the varsity football game ending in the scores of Minarets with 10 to Yosemite with 38, varsity player and senior Christian Varner gave his opinion on how the varsity game went: “We played evenly statistic wise, but we had a lack of execution on our offense and we can continue to get better. The game could’ve went better if our offense blocked a little better and our defense had a little more tackles but I think we played decent.”
The JV game ended in the scores ofMinarets with 6 to Yosemite with 12. JV player and junior Ledger Quiram gave his opinion on the game: “People didn’t perform well and we made a lot of mistakes" and JV player and freshmen Jacob Wheeler added “We could’ve started off better. The team could work on tackling and not letting people pass.”
Losing is never enjoyable, but its clear that our players learned some valuable lessons that they applied in their most recent game against Tranquility. Last Friday, Minarets Mustangs took a strong lead against Tranquility Tigers with the final score ending 60-7. Now, our boys are off to Fowler for what promises to be another exciting game.
