A new elective has danced its way onto Minarets campus and twenty-seven students are already making the mark on campus with the help of teacher Karen Urrutia-Polnitz. The new class is centered around dance and incorporates several levels and styles to help all students feel comfortable. For Urrutia-Polnitz, a dance class at Minarets is one of her greatest joys. “I like to dance because it is a form of expression and each dancer, no matter their skill or experience level, can bring something new and different to the stage."

For those students unable to take the class, Dance Club is available and club members plan on participating in multiple showcases, including the end of the year showcase, a suicide prevention themed dance similar to last year’s, flash mobs during lunch, as well as possibly competing in a dance competition. President and junior Lindsay Martin said that being president is really cool because its something she strongly cares about, and it has pushed her in a positive direction. “It's great because I can have that effect on somebody else,” she says, “Even if you aren't a dancer, if you have no experience, still come to check it out, it's really fun, you get to hang out with friends, and express yourself in an active manner.”
