A New Beginning for Mustangs Baseball

Writer: Minarets Press StaffMinarets Press Staff

With the Minarets season fast approaching, the Mustangs are determined to bounce back after a challenging year. As Jesse Darrah returns to the coaching staff, the team is eager for a fresh start. After finishing last season with a record of 8-19, the Mustangs are focused on improvement heading into the 2025 season. Their goal is to make a deep playoff run and return to a path of success. With determination and a strengthened coaching staff, the Mustangs are committed to getting back on track and achieving their goals this season.

The Mustangs have had two scrimmages and one regular-season game before entering the stretch of the season. In their first matchup, they defeated Mariposa with a score of 8-4. However, they faced challenges against the Sierra Chieftains, losing 9-2, and also suffered a defeat against Hanford West, with a final score of 4-0. When asked about how this season compares to the previous one, shortstop Torin Wolf said, “I think we’ll be a lot better this year.” He continued, “The team is playing much more cohesively, with less focus on individual performance. We also have more coaches who truly understand what’s best for us and how to improve.”

Although the Mustangs lost 3 starting seniors last season, they look to build on the momentum they gained and aim for an even more successful 2025 season. With 9 seniors entering this year, the team is stronger and more experienced. The seniors lead the team with experience and leadership, Hoping to guide the underclassmen encouraging them to be leaders as well.
