A Spitting Image of What it Means to Embody the 6 C’s Senior Spotlight on Halie Carrington

By Chloe Tossetti

Halie Carrington is the spitting image of what it means to embody the 6 Cs of Minarets. With her externally inviting personality and charismatic character she shines at Minarets. Most of all her kindness, hard work, and dedication are what sets her apart from any room she walks into. Halie has maintained a 4.0 throughout all four years, participating in various school events and community services with a passionate desire to make an impact. By the time her senior year arrived she started a project she was very excited about. Halie’s Senior Legacy project is one for the books.

She worked tirelessly by making posters to help promote her project  “Keeping the Valley Warm’’ at Fresno Mission that took place in November of 2023. With the help of Ms. Gamble who helped gather large donation boxes and then Halie took on designing them and asked the school to donate jackets, blankets, or anything to keep the community warm for those who will struggle through the winter to stay warm. Her project was a huge success as she looked back on the smiles she put on people's faces and the beam of gratitude she gathered from the community. Halie’s empathetic attitude shares how hard and utterly devastating watching these families was for her.

“For this project, I collected jackets and coats to distribute at the event. If someone continues this legacy, I would suggest advertising the project more. This project made me angry and hurt, seeing everyone, especially the children soaking wet,” she says with sadness coating her voice.

This project was eye-opening for Halie, she insinuates.  It showed the importance of humility and how fortunate others are to go home to somewhere warm. Halie signifies the importance of how the school should consider organizing more group community service projects or taking the initiative to help raise more awareness about how people have to live in this country. Learn how privileged most are and learn how to lend a helping hand to those who are less fortunate.

After her project in November,  she took on more responsibility and opportunities for growth, She began the application process for her schools. It was tiresome, stressful, and disappointing after not getting into her dream school, Cal Poly. Despite her failure she prevailed and put on an attitude of “It wasn't meant to be.” Halie ended up getting into California State University San Marcos. , she officially committed a month ago and will be starting in the fall to major in Criminal Justice/Criminology, aiming to become a Behavioral Analyst.

Halie looks back on her time at Minarets saying, “The past four years at Minarets have been a rollercoaster, with COVID-19 disrupting my freshman year and the frequent changes in staff making the rest of high school pretty frantic. Despite this, I learned to adapt. Growing up in high school is very important, and I feel like Minarets provides every opportunity for growth.”

For her, Minarets has provided so much growth and learning curves that have been important for her character. Becoming the person she is today she has had to undergo lots of trials and people hoping she fails but through all of it, Halie would have the goodwill, kindness, and graciousness she has today. Everyone who encounters Halie talks about her outgoing personality, her warmth and describes her soul as a ball of light
