Actors in Action: Drama Showcase

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

Drama students had an eventful showcase in room 611 as they showed off a variety of their drama skills. The night started off with Advanced Drama and The Little Mermaid play rehearsals. Instead of going straight to choreographing they started off with some dance warm-ups, then they went into choreographing the Under the Sea dance. One parent in attendance explained, "As soon as I walked in the room I could tell all of the students have a love for drama."

The session was dedicated to Beginning Drama class where they played a variety of games, including Mafia, Do You Love Your Neighbor?, the Chair Game, Party Host, and Energy Ball. One parent even jumped in and started participating in the games. She explained, "I really wanted to participate in some of the games because my daughter told me not to, but also I remember doing drama when I was in high school and I really missed being part of it so I felt like doing it."

Students picked the Drama Showcase for different reasons. One student said, "I picked the Drama Showcase because I really want to be involved in it any way I can." Another student said, "Well being involved in the play I can have time to rehearse, plus I really like drama so any extra time for it I will take."

Our drama program would not be possible with teacher Kayla West. She explained her passion for the program, "I love teaching all of my Drama classes, I consider everyone of them my children. When plays come around we are around each other so much that we are basically family."
