The soccer season has arrived at Minarets and these girls are ready to play. This season there are a lot more underclassmen on the teams, because eight members of the team graduated last year. They had their first scrimmage on Friday Oct. 8, 2019, against Roosevelt High School. These girls worked very hard on Friday but sadly in the end mustangs lost both JV and Varsity games.
Many girls tried out this season and did so with excellent effort. The coaches Jonah, Michelle, and Sadie have discussed and finalized their decisions for the lineup for the 2019-2020 girls JV and Varsity teams for this season.
The JV team this season consists of freshmen Lilly Alsup, Gaby Bulgara, Laney Cornett, Maya Hernandez, sophomores Liyah Aqa, Nyviah Bethel, Diamond Bernstein, Lindsay Frampton, Leilani Grijalva, Serenity Ignasiak, Chloe Robbins, Patricia Stockton, juniors Nayeli Johnson and Hailey Leathers.
The Varsity team this season includes freshman Allison Smith, sophomores Rileigh Azevedo, Nina Clay, Autumn Pearson, Cecilia Pierce, Jadyn Stafford, juniors Claire Corippo, Alice Cummings, Cait Flanagan, Alissa Nott, Kailey Shattuck, Molly Smith, seniors Elizabeth Almanza, Felicity Johnson, Luna Moreno, and Mandi Villanueva.
These Mustangs are doing their best and making Minarets proud in the process.
Even though this was the first game/scrimmage of the season, these girls have proven that they already know how to work together as a family and a team. With practices only beginning two weeks ago, these girls have already accomplished a lot and proved they have what it takes to make Minarets proud.
