Guiding with Heart: Celebrating Mrs. Chacon, Minarets’ Dedicated Counselor

Writer: Minarets Press StaffMinarets Press Staff

For this week’s Faculty of the Week we present… Mrs. Chacon!! With school life being overwhelming, many students at Minarets High School know who to turn to when they need practical advice or a listening ear. Our amazing counselor Mrs Chacon has been the most spirited, helpful, and kind-hearted person here at Minarets High School. She has worked at Minarets for 11 years starting as a varsity volleyball coach and then becoming a counselor three years later.

When being asked what made her decide to go into counseling Mrs. Chacon stated, “I got the job as the varsity volleyball coach and my masters degree was in mental health but I found a passion for just wanting to be around kids and so I went back to Fresno State to get my PPS credential and the rest is history.” Mrs. Chacon loves everything about her job and that is the students, their lives, the staff, and that everyday is always different.

Here at Minarets, students are blessed to have a counselor like Mrs. Chacon, sharing her wisdom with each and every student. A piece of advice Mrs. Chacon has extended to the students “Get involved, that’s how you grow as a person and that’s how you meet new people and you’d be surprised on what that can do for you emotionally.” And I think it's safe to say Mrs. Chacon is an expert on that! Thank you Mrs. Chacon for all you do!
