Honoring Our Seniors: A Night to Remember for Boys Basketball

February 24th, 2026 O'Neals, CA Luis Ayala, Reporter

On February 10, 2026, our boys basketball seniors—Fidel Flores, Ivan Lee, Matthew Carlton, and Andrew Mellon—were honored before their matchup against Yosemite High School. Before tip-off, each senior walked across the court with their families. Their accomplishments were read aloud—years played, favorite memories, and future plans. For many in the crowd, it was more than just a game; it was a celebration of growth, commitment, and the end of an important chapter.

Senior Night is not just about basketball, but about celebrating the memories made and the work put in on the court, the growth that came from both victory and defeat, and the honor of wearing the purple and gold one last time.

We asked a couple of our seniors what they wanted to say as they reflected on their basketball experience.

“Perfect practice makes perfect.” — Andrew Mellon

“It was lots of fun. I enjoyed working every day to get better. We had a very special group of guys I will never forget. I enjoyed leading the team as captain this year, and I really appreciate the guys who gave it their all to give me the best senior season possible.” — Fidel Flores

Thank you to the seniors for their dedication and to the coaches for setting everything up.
