Horse Power Coffee Is Off to the Races Again!

Updated: Jul 12, 2021

Horse Power Coffee is a young, up-and-coming student-run organization that serves coffee to the staff at Minarets! The organization was formed from agriculture teacher Keeley Hall’s Ag Business class in the fall of 2020 but had to be put on pause due to COVID-19.

According to Hall, Horsepower Coffee is back up and running with the return to in-person learning. “We are currently selling coffee to teachers as of last week. Changes due to the coronavirus include adding creamer/sweetener to the coffee; instead, we give each customer a baggie with individual packets to add to their own coffee. Additionally, we have stopped taking cash and instead bill the staff members' accounts.”

Despite the late return to in-person learning, Horsepower Coffee has begun to expand its services this year. “We decided to add a subscription program, and currently have four sign-ups for the rest of the year,” explained Hall. The organization also has plans to continue its expansion. “Going forward,” says Hall, “we are working on adding some other enterprises, including t-shirt printing, stickers/awards, and once our chicken coop is up and running, the selling of eggs.“

Due to the California Education Code, this coffee service is only available to staff members, who can order their coffee each morning through the Google Form that is emailed out.

Like many other clubs and activities on the Minarets campus, Horse Power Coffee is finding its legs again and is already off to a successful start.
