The Minarets Mustangs Boys Basketball went against the Fowler Redcats on Tuesday, Feb. 4. This is basketball's second time playing Fowler, but this time being a league game. The previous game they had with them Varsity lost 85-30 and JV lost 57-26. With Fowler being number one in our Central Section Rankings, Varsity played a tough game with a score of 76-59. Boys JV unfortunately also lost with the score of 63-27.

Even though the Mustangs lost by 17 points, it was a really close game and they played phenomenally. Junior Eli Estrada was voted Maxpreps’ “The Player of The Game” by scoring a total of 23 points. Before the boys’ Varsity game, Eli Estrada got asked to the Sadie’s dance, as shown in the video.

The last home game was on Thursday Feb. 13 against the Riverdale Mustangs. Once again they have already played this team, but now it is a league game. During the last game Varsity played against Riverdale they lost 43-34 and JV lost also to 53-8.

This last home game was also Senior Night where the team said goodbye to seniors Michael Chacon, Gabriel Hansen, Colby Moss, and Marco Ramirez. Unfortunately, both teams ended up losing with the scores being JV 44-22 and Varsity 72-51.

JV player Elias Gibson explained how the season played out for him and the team, “I think this season has taught me how to be a better basketball player and a great teammate. This season has taught me to keep my head up when times are rough and keep moving on. I think this season brought our team closer not only as a team but a family, and that's what basketballs are about!”

All in all, boy's basketball had a very good season!
