Leadership Puts on First Homecoming Dance Since COVID

For the first time since COVID-19, the Homecoming Dance at Minarets High School took place after the homecoming football game in front of the Media Lounge. The school’s leadership team, led by media teacher Juan Ortiz, put together a two-hour experience that students, and even some staff, were thrilled to attend. There were snacks, including cookies, gummies, and more sweet snacks as well as water provided to those who attended.

The leadership team worked hard to plan a fun and entertaining party for everyone to enjoy. It was a glow-in-the-dark theme, with glow sticks, neon signs, and glow-in-the-dark paint to put on paper and the walls. The restrictions for COVID-19 were more lenient because the dance took place outside, so students and staff didn’t have to wear masks.

With our leadership team working hard as ever to try to make the post COVID period a more enjoyable experience, there are lots more planned for future dances. They will come across some obstacles with COVID restrictions, but at least Minarets will be able to enjoy the first year in person after online learning.
