Mustang softball is about halfway through their season so far and they have played about 6 games in their early season. They started out with preseason and, now that it is the real season, they have been trying their best to make our school proud with their hard work to beat all of their opponents. With a smashing win against Orosi, they are still moving forward.
On April 9 and 11, the team had a big tournament in Tulare. They were granted a total amount of four games to play.
They played back to back and did not really have a break, so their second game was right after. In their game against Sierra, they ended up winning. The Mustangs started off right, they were stopping the ball and we're winning. Right around the middle of the game, senior Melia Kamalani hit her first-ever home run, having two other players run in and score as well. After Kamalani's hit it gave the players so much excitement, they kept scoring more and more. They ended the game with a winning score of 9-5. Ending the Tournament with a win was such a positive experience for the entire team.
Kamalani shared her thoughts on the game and her first home run, saying, “I was really happy that we ended the tournament on a win, and everyone got a hit for the first time. As well it was really cool to see the new freshman make it to home plate.”
On the first day, which was Saturday, they got to play two games. Their first game was against Placerville and their second game was against Farmersville. They did end up losing both of those games, The second game they played was back and forth, but Farmersville ended up taking the win. On the second day, Monday, they played two games as well. Their first game was against Golden West and their second was against Sierra. Their first game was definitely a close one, but they sadly lost.
Overall, the Mustangs tried their hardest and definitely showed major effort in wanting the win they got. Practice makes perfect and these ladies are working hard for the wins they know they can get.
