The Minarets Mustangs baseball team got out of school at 12:30pm on Friday, March 6, to go up to their rival school, Yosemite High School, for the second face-off of the year. The team got on the bus and mentally preparing for the game ahead. The team showed up to the field at around 1:30 and began getting warm by stretching, throwing, and the pitcher throwing a bullpen.

The Mustangs struggled through the game because many of the starting players were missing from the line up. Despite the trouble, our boys fought as well as they could. Through every inning they continued to hit but could not manage to get a run in, even with plenty of runners getting on base.

The end score of the game was 11-0 with YHS taking the win. Our starting center fielder and pitcher TJ Garner shared his thoughts on the game, “The team had a very rough time at the game, and it was a rude awakening from the 2-0 loss we had only a couple weeks ago. I used to be a student at YHS so even though we lost really badly, I still had a really good time playing against all my old friends. I wish we secured the win, but I still had a blast. I’m sure we would do much better if we could play them again.”

As with any loss, it was a learning experience for our boys, who are now better prepared for their upcoming games this week. Be sure to come out and cheer our Mustang baseball team on for the next game!
