The Mustangs played the Yosemite Badgers on Friday, Sept. 6. YHS is the rival of the Minarets Mustangs, making the game highly anticipated by both high schools. Unfortunately, once it came down to game time, the Mustangs lost 41-0, losing by 41 points. The JV team lost to the Badgers 25-7.
Colton Ralph, a defensive player on the varsity MHS team, had his opinion about how the game played out, “Our team had a hard time playing well. Everyone was either scared of YHS or too excited for the game to really focus and play to the best of our potential. Our team is better and our players are better than theirs. We defeated ourselves.”
The MHS football team was pretty down on themselves about how the game against YHS went down. While the school still has not won a football game against YHS, our team and our players are hopeful for the next opportunity to play them, becoming more and more confident every year of the team’s capabilities to finally claim a victory.
Be sure to come out and cheer on our boys at the home football game this Friday at 5:00 p.m.
