Minarets Baseball Prepares for Season with Fall Ball

By Keira Evans and Joshua Stevens

Minarets Fall Ball is sadly coming to an end within the next few weeks, but the team has had a great fall season and they are getting ready for their main season in the spring. Teacher Michael Garza is the new Varsity baseball coach and his team this year is truly excited for the spring season and to get back into the feel of playing the game they love.

Garza is really excited for his team this year and has always loved the game. As a child, his dad really pushed him to be the best he can be, as he is doing for his players. The drive his parents gave him for the game made him want to share his love and passion with his team. Fall ball is not the real baseball season, but it gives him a chance to look at his team and get them into the shape they need to be in for spring.

The fall season did not have the best start, but luckily, all of the players are hopeful that they will continue to do better. The baseball team is extremely committed and they all love working with their new coach. The team has won only one game, but this is the time for Garza to understand how this upcoming season will be.

Garza says, “It's an evaluation period for me. There's incoming freshmen and sophomores who didn't get to play last year and [this is] letting them see the game so that way I can evaluate who's going to play where.”

The players are excited for the upcoming season. Sophomore Mason Media and Senior Aaron Hill both agreed that this season went well for their team. They both believe it is a good restart and a way for the team to improve on things they still need to work on. Both have also loved baseball ever since they were kids. Their hard work shows in how well they play together along with all of the other players on their team. Each and every one of them strive to be the best they can be. Even on the off days, they believe they can work together and win the next game.

This fall ball season has been a little rocky, but at each game, they each show more skill and more dedication for the game they all truly love. This year they are all striving to make it past Valley Championships. It will be tough, but they all have faith, including their coach.

“Nothing comes easy, especially in life, so work hard because it's a grind,” Says Garza.

If they take that quote to heart and work hard, then the baseball team can win this year in spring and make the Minarets Mustangs proud!
