Minarets’s 2000’s Lib Dub

By Anastasia Salazar

Between the low-rise jeans and the flash of digital cameras, the 2000’s era officially entered Minarets High School with full force! On Thursday, April 25th, the highly anticipated annual lip dub took place. It was the ultimate throwback, giving students and staff the chance to unleash their 2000’s styles, while proudly showcasing their Mustang spirit.

One aspect that students committed to was the opportunity to dive into the 2000’s fashion. Senior Felicia Keg, in particular, gave a detailed breakdown of her outfit and how she crafted it for the day. She stated, “I wore dark blue low-rise jeans with a bedazzled design, a big chunky rhinestone belt, a jogger jacket with a tank top, and completing the look were mom sunglasses, and hoop earrings.” Felicia's attention to detail showcased the students' dedication to embracing the theme and transforming the school into a homage to the iconic era.

Another important ingredient that contributed to Minaret's lip dub success, was their dedicated film crew. Behind the scenes, senior Ryu Sotelo stood as the mastermind for this year’s lip dub event. His insight shed light on the long preparation that he and his team had to go through to make this lip dub a success. When asked about the preparation required for the lip dub, Ryu explained, “We had to do a lot. We had to make a mashup playlist of the songs, plan the routes, put talent where they needed to go and do lots and lots of test runs.” Despite feeling stressed from the meticulous preparation dealt with, Ryu's passion for filmmaking shone through as he expressed his eagerness to capture this year’s lip dub.

Ultimately, this year’s lip dub was a success! Our Mustang spirit was through the roof, and everyone had a great time! The lip dub video alone shows just how special and unique Minarets High School is.
