Mustangs get ready to kick off their season!

The Minarets soccer teams are getting ready to kick off the season! A new coach, previously from Fowler Scott Ishimoto, has joined the girls team this season. Both coaches and players are prepared to do very well this season, especially since they have more girls than they have had in a long time.

Returning varsity player senior Nyviah Bethel shared her thoughts on how the season will go, “I think the season will be very successful because our team is already like a family and we all work well together.”

She also gave her input and thoughts on our new coaching staff this year.

“I am very excited about our coaching staff. I love Mary and Scott and they have very high expectations for us that we will all meet" said Bethel.

Bethel has been playing soccer all four years of her high school career, playing on the JV team her freshman year and the varsity for the past three years.

Varsity head coach Mary Pearson comments on the team so far, “We have one of the biggest turnouts that we have had in a while and a lot of great talent that complements each other and a great group of girls that want to come out and compete and have fun.”

This year, the team has a new goalie and assistant coach for the varsity team, Scott Ishimoto.

Pearson shared her thoughts on coaching with him saying, “Having Scott is going to be fantastic. He comes with coaching experience at the high school level, and he brings different skill sets of coaching to the team.”

The coaches and players are very excited for this soccer season to start. With a great turnout of girls and a great coaching staff, the Mustangs expect to go really far this season.
