Oh Shoot: Here Comes Girls Basketball

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

Girls’ basketball has taken an exciting turn this year with more girls interested than ever before! This has to be Minarets’ biggest team for the girl’s basketball program since over twenty girls came out for tryouts for JV and Varsity. According to Junior and Varsity Captain Taylyr Moglia, "this year varsity is all in the same age group so we have this chemistry that makes us love the game even more”.

The girls are preparing for their season and are focused and determined to win. Varsity Coach Brett Moglia explained, “We've had our largest group with about 23 girls,12 of which are returning players. This year our coaches are back and consistent with pushing the girls to get better every day. We're shifting gears from playing as a big offense to more of a run and gun team- with the help of players who are more capable, who are more athletic”.

The Mustangs hosted Mariposa and showed phenomenal effort as they fought for possession of the ball. The intensity was in the air with the Varsity team yelling, being active and pushing the ball up and back.

Minarets will be playing the Tranquility Tigers tomorrow night so be there and show our Mustangs some support!
