Despite all of the amazing plays we made, our Minarets Volleyball team lost against Sierra. Even with the loss, we played an amazing game and put up a strong fight.
Starting with our frosh team, Courtney Bishop made countless great plays, earning us 8 points during the sets. Pheinox also made an amazing save, earning us another point. earning us another point. Our JV also kept a strong fight against Sierra. Number 2, Lily Valdivia, made several amazing sets to their outside hitter, giving them a boost in points. Reagan Ellis, another strong player made many great saves that kept their rally going.

Lastly, although our varsity team lost 3-0, there were many good saves and plays made by all the players. During the third set, number 5, Aubrey Lambrecht, made an amazing over-the-net hit against Sierra and earned us a point. Number 11, Drew Jensen-Pierce, also made an amazing over-the-net, earning us another point. Zaphara, their setter (number 3) set the ball for both amazing hits.

This game’s theme was blackout, but the team also wore blue bows in remembrance of Gary Hazelton. Player #5 from JV, Tenley Bigelow, wore the bow in honor of her grandfather who passed away from colon cancer. Later that night, before the 3rd varsity set, Tenley bravely stepped into the middle of the court to give an inspiring speech, raising awareness about colon cancer and reminding everyone to stay vigilant.
