Showcase night is a very special night for the Minarets community. On showcase night, teachers allow students to either present or hold such things as mock trials to show their parents what they are both learning and doing in school.
History teacher, Ben Regonini, allowed both his sophomore and junior classes to show their current work. Sophomores presented a slideshow of their Create Your Own Government projects. In this project, students created a fully functional government detailing its different aspects and explained what system it used. Sophomore, Zac Roberts, explained “I had a lot of fun with this project because I felt like this is somewhere I would want me and my family to live”.
Juniors had a different approach creating an infographic instead, titled “Native American Tribal Presentation”. In this infographic they gave details about native tribes and their journey through the Trail of Tears and how it altered their life. The Trail of Tears was an event that took place due to President Andrew Jackson's disregard of the Supreme court ruling in Worcester v. Georgia. It resulted in the removal of native tribes forcing them to move west of the Mississippi River- away from their homeland. One of the presenters, Kylee Best, gave a four-page infographic showing our Mustang's work ethic! Regonini said, "Showcase basically gives an idea of what we do at Minarets and how we are more of a project-based school, it really shows how connected we are with the students".
