This year Minarets had the chance to continue the tradition of Senior Sunrise for this year’s class of 2024. It was held on Friday, August 11, 2023. Seniors had to show up at the Minarets Baseball field by 5:30 in the morning. Once they arrived they were greeted by Senior parents who had set up breakfast for everyone. Including muffins, fruit, coffee, different types of juices, and other goodies.
The turnout was more than expected, about half of the Senior class showed up. All bonding with their friends as well as their fellow classmates. It was a time for seniors to just get together and celebrate entering this new year. One of the Seniors, Macy Ellis gave some great input on her experience, “It was a surreal experience watching the sunrise at Minarets High School. Taking place at 5:30 pm Seniors from Minarets High joined up in the morning to watch the sunrise and bond with their senior classmates. Even though waking up early in the morning wasn't super exciting The feeling of watching the sunrise in the cold breeze was worth it”.
For Natalie Walsh, she described senior sunrise as fun and chilling. It took place at the baseball field and it also took place at 5:30 am ending at 6:30 am. She went because she wanted to get involved since it would be her last year and to participate in anything she could. As she was there she hung out with her friends and talked about senior year as they watched the sunrise together.
Each Senior had their own amazing experience whether it was watching their first Sunrise or it was just an experience that they got to have with their closest friends. Many Seniors look forward to this event every year, and there was definitely excitement when it came to this event. Overall, these Seniors had so much fun being able to watch the sunset with their friends and just enjoy each other's company as they welcomed in the new school year.
