Teacher Spotlight: Mr. Bogardus

 By Charley Shipley

In our latest Teacher Spotlight feature, we were able to interview Mr. Bogardus, he was hired as our school’s new track coach.

The first question that was asked was what is his favorite memory with the team so far? He said it had to be the girl's 4x100 relay. This would be because “They didn’t decide to do it until we were already on our way there.” He said that the girls hadn’t even practiced it before but did great in the race.

The next question was when did he know he wanted to coach a sport? The answer was because of his sons who wanted to play a sport so he decided to be the coach so he could spend time with his son. Mr. Bogardus continued to coach because “I just grew a passion for it.”

The third question was why he chose to coach at Minarets. Mr. Bogardus said he saw online that Minarets needed a track coach and since in high school running track was his passion he had the time and just did it.

The ending question was did Mr. Bogardus have any advice for the future and present Mustang athletes? He said, “If they have a passion for running, just do it.” It was even mentioned that students can get scholarships for running track.

Overall, Mr. Bogardus has had a great experience coaching the track team and being able to follow his passion for track! We are so very lucky to have him here at Minarets as our coach and field coach.
