Minarets has a variety of sports, but this year a new sport team was added: The Cavalry. The Cavalry is an eSports teams where students compete in competitive video games against other schools to test their skills. Junior Jake Dowell, the captain of the Esports team, explained, “we push students to show their love for things like video games, shout casting, videography, and professional play."
The group continues to grow as the club gains more attention throughout the campus. Captain Jake Dowell described different ways people can get involved: "Currently we are developing teams for Clash Royale, Rocket League, League of Legends, and we have already started our OverWatch team's season."
The OverWatch team consists of juniors Jake Dowel, Conner Henard, Ayden Pires, Cameron Johnston, Dadalus Haynes, Baelin Peltier, and senior Opal Suttijit. They have already participated in multiple scrimmages and they are currently undefeated. All of their previous games and scrimmages are available on Twitch on the Minarets eSports channel.
