The heart of the game: Minarets Varsity Volleyball

You will never see a more dedicated group than the Minarets varsity volleyball girls. The ladies' dedication is shown through action, training every day and then jumping straight into games. The opposing teams should be scared because our varsity team seems to be a group of mind readers, knowing exactly where to go before they even look. In their most recent match, they demonstrated not only these skills but also their passion and love for the game. Every giggle, cheer, and high five indicates how much they care for this sport. They fight competitively, aiming to win, but you should be careful, the girls’ joy on the court is contagious, proving that they truly care about volleyball and most importantly, each other. This team is not winning for themselves but for their teammates.

What stands out most is their fair play and positive energy. Hollering every time they score a point and smacking the floor is a way that the girls show their support. The lady Mustangs’ have a fun tradition for celebrating a score; sliding on their stomachs, forming goggles with their hands, and kicking their legs when Minarets scores. It is clear that the varsity Mustangs share their every memory. When asked about the team, varsity player Anjalee Sifuentes answered “Playing with my teammates is what really makes it fun.”

The Minarets varsity volleyball team exemplifies the true essence of high school sports: dedication, teamwork, and a genuine love for the game. Their passion and spirit show that they play not just to compete, but to make memories and have fun doing what they love.
