To encourage creative writing at Minarets, senior Joseph Langley has begun writing and editing a full-length novel entitled The Rhythm of the World. It follows the story of Acha, daughter to the president of an underground society, formed in a cavern by exiled convicts. It is at once a coming of age story, a tale of survivalism, and a heist thriller.
With the deadline fast approaching, Joseph has become more determined to finish his story. “I had to at some point make the decision, ‘I’m doing this’. I just have to shove other things to the side and make sure this happens,” he said, “I’ve been waking up at 5 a.m. to write for an hour before school. I’ve been doing a thousand words a day - the goal there is to hit 80,000 words in 80 days.”
The first chapters of the audiobook are currently being worked on, and the full book is planned to be released on June 1, 2020.
