The Very First Season of Stunt

Updated: Sep 28, 2020

By: Hailey Carlton and Benjimen McMillan

As cheer season comes to an end, something new is coming to Minarets! Stunt is very different than cheer. Cheer does not compete with other schools, but instead focuses on spirit and cheering on our Fall and Winter sports teams. Stunt, on the other hand, is a program where our school will compete against different schools doing different stunts each quarter. The team will learn and compete with 16 different routines, four for each category which include partner stunts, pyramids and tosses, jumps and tumbling, and the all-together. Our school is in the 4th division for Stunt. In order for everything to work out within the team, each one of the team members has to know their part and how to do it. Whoever does the best stunt will win that quarter. If they tie, they have to keep going until one of the teams wins.

Current Stunt member and sophomore Kaileah Sandstrom spoke about how she thinks the season will turn out “It will take some time to get everything perfect but everybody is putting in so much effort! I think it'll be a good season and also something to look forward to!”

Since this is the first year of stunt at Minarets it is sure to be loads of fun, be sure to support them at events! Their first scrimmage is Saturday, Mar. 7, 2020.
