This semester at Minarets has gotten off to a rocky start, with COVID infections spiking and many students forced to stay at home. However, there is a lot to look forward to between now and the end of the year.
On Feb. 18, we have our annual Sadies’ Dance at John’s Incredible Pizza in Fresno, where traditionally girls are supposed to ask boys to the dance. The dance was canceled last year due to COVID, so it will be nice to get the dance back going.
Next we have Presidents’ Week, or more commonly known as Ski Week, from Feb. 21 to 25. There will be no school, so enjoy your week off!
After this, will be the beginning of our baseball, softball, and track seasons. Baseball was highly successful last year, winning the league and going to the playoffs. They will look to build on that success behind a new head coach, Michael Garza. Track and Field’s season was very hampered last year, with most of their meets being canceled and the season being highly shortened by COVID. Coach Jason Mironyuk will look to claim the first Track and Field league title in the school history this year. If you’re interested in joining any of these sports, make sure to contact the coaches and get out to a practice!
In April, we will have Spring Break from April 15 to 25, so make sure to have some fun with your days off while the weather gets warmer.
Prom will be in May and, while there is no official date scheduled yet, no doubt the leadership team will be working hard to make sure it will be the best experience possible.
Not long after that will be graduation for the Class of 2022 and then the last day of the school year. Make sure you’re keeping up with your school work now to minimize stress towards the end of the year. There is lots to look forward to in the next few months, make sure to make the best of it!
