While many of us have been busy handling last minute tasks for the end of the year, our graduating seniors, the Class of 2019, are preparing for an evening they've been looking forward to all year.

This year's graduation will be held Wednesday, June 5th 2019 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Minarets High School. In preparation for the celebration, many families like to give their grads leis to wear, but if they aren't pre-ordered, you may be unable to find one the day of graduation.

When a person gives someone a lei, it symbolizes their affection towards the other. Leis are commonly presented when someone is arriving and leaving, so it’s no surprise that leis are given to graduates as they are leaving school and arriving to this new stage of life. Traditionally, the receiver is supposed to bow their head down so the gift-giver can place the lei around their neck. (SOURCE: proflowers.com)

Graduation leis can usually be ordered in any local floral shop, are sometimes available at Costco and if you're looking for local options Enchanted Florist in Oakhurst, https://theenchantedfloristandwhatnots.com (559) 683-5455, carries them during grad season. Business owner Jennifer Nigro Lyster will be out at the Park & Ride on Graduation night for last minute purchases!

So, make sure to pre-order those leis and congratulations to the Class of 2019!
