On October 1st, all the students gathered in the well for special announcements. The Mustang Royalty nominees were announced, but so was our newest Freshman Representative, Kairi Bustamante! We have interviewed her to learn a little more about her, and are excited to share what she has said.

Question: How did it feel to find out you were our newest freshman rep?

Answer: “I was not expecting anything of the outcome because I am from out-of-district so not many people knew me at the start, and I’m really happy that I was actually able to make an impression of myself to the school.”

Question: What made you initially interested in running for freshman rep?

Answer: “As I said before, I am from not from the Chawanakee Area or District, and I really like this campus, I made the right decision to go here, and I wanna keep it that way. I wanna keep the school awesome…I also wanted to keep busy, know what the school is up to and get more involved in high school in a way that can help others too.”

Question: What are you hoping to bring to the table or excited about?

Answer: “I wanna bring some new ideas or some fun into the campus life because it’s high school and starting as a Freshman I want my fellow friends to not be stressed and have a good time.”

Question: How was your first week on Leadership?

Answer: “I don’t mean this in a bad way but I was just thrown into HOCO week but it was really fun. I had to catch up really quick because it was all planned out and ready, but I was ready to take the challenge.”

Question: Are you excited to work with the other representatives?

Answer: “100%! They seem really nice and I'm glad they can just be themselves around me.”

Question: Is there anything you would like people to know about you?

Answer: “Just that I have their back if they need any help academically or if they want to get more involved or just need a friend and I will do my best even if mistakes are made.”

We are all happy to have Kairi as our Freshman Rep, and we hope she has a great year!
