The Fall CDE teams of Cotton, Citrus, and Natural Resources are upon us.
The cotton judging team attends contests which consist of judging two classes of seeds, lint, bolls and plants. They are then required to give a set of reasons based on how they placed the classes. Our team has already began practices and had their very first contest on September 21st where they placed fourth high team.
Starting later on in the year is our Citrus judging team. This is a contest for students to test their knowledge about the quality of citrus. Within this contest they judge oranges, lemons, and grapefruits and give oral reasons to a judge. They also identify different diseases and bugs on fruit. They will begin practices in November.
Finally, the Natural Resources contest includes a national and global interview, environmental and natural resources problem solving, soil tests and profiles, air and water analysis, GPS use, and waste management.
If anyone wishes to join a Fall Team, talk to an Ag teacher for more information.
