The Minarets High School Spanish club was formed in 2016 by Spanish teacher Karen Urrutia. Though the club is still very new, its members and administrator are all very enthusiastic and involved and are in the process of planning fundraisers for a future trip for the club. The club is run by junior Crystal Hernandez, club President, who says that her favorite part of this club is “the community that we have created in our high school...also the community that we represent and the history behind them”. The club is student run and supervised by Spanish teacher Ms. Urrutia.
During club meetings, students discuss different Spanish cultures, participate in Mexican holiday traditions, and host fiestas with lots of yummy food and good nature. Speaking Spanish is not a requirement for joining the club nor do you have to be taking a Spanish class, only have a good attitude and a passion for learning with friends.
For any students attending Minarets, Crystal would like other students to join Spanish club “because I would want them to get a taste of the culture and everything it has to offer”.
Any questions or comments can be answered by Ms. Karen Urrutia (Ms. U) in room 610.
